Barbara Stanwyck

Like a lot of astrologers, I get in the habit of comparing Cancer individuals to crabs.  Truthfully, however, I believe they’re more like eggs.  Eggs are hard on the outside, soft on the inside and served up in a variety of ways — just like a Cancer woman with her ever-changing moods.

Barbara Stanwyck was one of the greatest actresses in the history of cinema because she could serve up anything.  Her connection to her own emotions was as good as it gets.  In “Double Indemnity” she was the hard-boiled dame, but she could do sunny-side up, scrambled and over easy just as well.

Since her sense of style onscreen represented the vision of her costumers, I’m not going to pretend to know more about it than I do.  I will say that she presents an iconic image of the Cancer woman in “Double Indemnity,” as iconic as Gemini Marilyn Monroe in “The Seven Year Itch” or Taurus Ann-Margret in “Bye Bye Birdie.”

I suppose I should create a new category devoted to these icons rather than just including them in the daily birthday profiles.  I’ll get around it . . .
