Kate Moss

It’s difficult to critique a supermodel for her wardrobe choices when almost every image of her is from an ad campaign or a magazine editorial.  However, in the case of Kate Moss, she’s followed around by paparazzi everywhere she goes.  Her personal style is a matter of public record.

Nevertheless, today’s birthday girl rarely gives the press a reason to negatively review her wardrobe choices.  In fact, Moss has mastered the one element of Capricorn style that I really haven’t discussed since the sun entered the sign: Appropriateness.  One of the greatest strengths of a well-dressed Capricorn is knowing what to wear and when to wear it.

When the memorial service for Alexander McQueen took place last September, I wondered who would take the opportunity to turn the occasion into a photo-op.  Moss didn’t.  She wore what she would wear to a funeral.  She received some criticism for wearing a deep V-neck, but it was nothing I hadn’t seen before.  On the other hand, I found the choices of several guests positively heinous.  It made me wonder what was more appropriate: Showing up at a funeral in an outfit that the person in the casket would have expected you to wear, or showing up at a funeral in an outfit that would guarantee that your photo would be on the front page of the tabloids the next day.  As a fellow Capricorn, I would have chosen the former scenario.  I believe Kate Moss did, too.
