The birthday girl for April 25 is Renée Zellweger.
It’s difficult for me not to beat this girl-next-door theme into the ground, but if the shoe fits . . .
The cornerstone of Zellweger’s career has been her role in the Bridget Jones films. As one of the most relatable characters ever to be portrayed on the big screen, Zellweger struck a chord with her audience that will be impossible to duplicate. Even with an Oscar turn in “Cold Mountain” and a brilliant performance in “Chicago,” Zellweger is always going to be Bridget Jones. She could be eighty-years-old and she could still get away with playing the girl-next-door because it’s completely in-character for her to play such a role.
I’m interested to see where her career takes her in the future. I believe that she’s immensely talented, but she’s got to know that her audience prefers to see her in a particular way. You can’t fight your destiny!
