Today’s new moon offers an ideal time to make those New Year’s resolutions. With a solar eclipse occuring in Capricorn early this morning, the power of this particular day is increased substantially, especially for anyone with 13-14° cardinal points emphasized in their natal charts.
Remember this, though: The Capricorn symbol of the seagoat represents a journey from the deepest depths to the highest heights. Whatever you resolve today, make sure that you understand only time, patience and lots of hard work will get you to where you’re going. There are no quick fixes when Capricorn is in the picture.
As for me, I’m going to resolve to become famous enough to be cast on “Dancing with the Stars.” Now to figure out how to do that . . .
Last night’s new moon in Leo marked a great time to begin work on your ego. Focus on whatever is going to feed your ego for the next couple of weeks, whether that’s a new exercise regime, a healthier diet or more disciplined skin care. Also, think about a dramatic change of hairstyle, but avoid coloring and other chemical processes for about two weeks.
In southern latitudes it’s winter, and the bodies of people living in those latitudes are not creating their own vitamin D. Think about adding a vitamin D supplement to your diet this time of year. For those of us in northern latitudes, getting into the habit now wouldn’t be such a bad thing so that we’re ready when winter arrives. Leo relates to skin, hair, nails, the heart and the back. Vitamin D deficiency can have a devastating impact upon bone health, cardiovascular systems, and hair and skin health.
On a less-technical note, the Leo new moon is a great time to add some panache to your wardrobe. Forget all the “rules” for fall that are plastered across the September issues of the fashion magazines. This is the time to write your own rules. This is when you’ll get away with it!
This morning’s new moon in Gemini has nothing to do with the gnu in the photo. However, it does mark an ideal time to foster better communication skills, to reopen previously-blocked communication channels, and to foster frank discourse — especially with siblings.
With so much going on in the sky over the past couple of weeks, this new moon could be the perfect opportunity to resolve to accept that life can change on a dime. Gemini is a very adaptive sign. As the planets move into a major cardinal cross over the next few months, adaptation to a changing cosmic climate will be what separates the men from the boys, and the women from the girls. Static situations will suddenly become dynamic. If we can learn anything from Gemini it’s that we must respond quickly to changes.
Look for hints of what might change in your life over the next couple of weeks. The signs are right in front of your eyes, but you if you blink, you might miss them.
Not that new moon. The one in the sky!
Today’s new moon in Taurus marks a great day for starting a new budget, coming to grips with self-indulgent behavior that impacts your appearance and choosing more productive ways to rest and relax — choosing yoga or pilates instead of the couch, for instance. All signs can benefit from the slow and steady influence of the Taurus new moon. Just don’t stand your ground over something that means nothing. It won’t work, and if you’re obnoxious today you’ll be paid back in kind.
With Saturn stationary in Virgo, however, you also may be inclined to second-guess the practicality of your decisions, especially if you’re an earth sign. You’re probably on the right track. Mercury has just ended it’s retrograde cycle, and information is flowing more freely. Let it flow. Don’t make rash decisions, but also don’t let paranoia keep you from moving forward during this brief phase. Events that held you back last autumn may be on your mind, but it’s time to leave the past in the past.
