The birthday boy for June 13 is Rivers Cuomo.
In my previous post I mentioned that I admire many of popular music’s Gemini weirdos. I find something very authentic about the way that they put themselves together. I suppose that’s why I don’t get a “contrived” vibe from Rivers Cuomo. There seems to be some genuine enthusiasm in the way he presents himself to his audience. He seems to like what he wears and he seems to like the image that he projects.
To me, a musical artist like Lady Gaga seems to be entirely contrived. I believe in her conviction to her artform, but like most Aries natives, she always gives me the impression that she’s trying too hard to be avant garde. And then there’s people like Rivers Cuomo who simply appear as if they live in their own little world . . .
The birthday girl for June 12 is Robyn.
Like many of the pop-music icons who share her sign, Robyn is kind of weirdo. She seems to live in a universe all her own where the rules of fashion don’t apply.
I don’t often try to judge people who fit into this mold. Sometimes I find that their personal style is incongruent with the signature style of their sun sign (Stevie Nicks, for example), and other times I find that their fashion choices reflect the dynamic, youthful, hermaphroditic energy of Gemini (Prince; Boy George). In either case, I seem to admire them when they appear to be disconnected from the business of fashion.
When I really think about what defines the style of this zodiac sign, I imagine teenagers who believe that everything they think of is new and novel — even when it comes from second-hand shops. It’s the charming naivete of Gemini natives that I find appealing. They can be rather myopic in that manner, but that’s par for the course. Geminis see the trees, not the forest. It’s the bigger picture that sometimes elude them.
The birthday boy for June 11 is Dr. Oz.
Gemini natives are renowned for their ability to communicate, so it’s no wonder that television’s most famous doctor is a Gemini. Why bother practicing medicine when you can talk about practicing medicine?
It makes sense to me!
The birthday girl for June 10 is Leelee Sobieski.
Sobieski is married to a fashion designer, so it makes sense that she is quite stylish in her own right. In fact, Sobieski has become a darling of the fashion pack over the past couple of years. What I like about the actress — and what most fashion critics seem to like about her — is her ability to wear things that no one else would wear. Like Tilda Swinton, she has a style all her own and the resources to pull it off.
Sobieski’s style, however, is more youthful and a little more accessible that Swinton’s. Swinton is a Scorpio, so there is a bit of distance between her and the observer. Scorpios can be intimidating. Gemini natives, on the other hand, often appeal to their admirers by simply being one step ahead of the pack. The worst-dressed Geminis are trendy; the best-dressed are trendsetters. I’d put Sobieski in the latter category.
The birthday boy for June 9 is Les Paul.
Paul was known primary for inventing the solid-body electric guitar. As his sun sign, Gemini, rules over the hands, it makes sense that a Gemini would be responsible for creating an instrument that tests the manual dexterity of the person playing the instrument. Geminis are also reputed to be innovators. Paul ably demonstrated the inherent qualities of his zodiac sign.
The birthday girl for June 7 is Anna Kournikova.
Kournikova received more publicity as a professional tennis player for her looks than her on-court performance. However, her critics rarely look past her singles record when assessing her career, and that’s a mistake. Kournikova was a sensational doubles player with some of the best hands in tennis. Her ability to disguise shots when playing the net earned her millions of dollars and a number-one ranking by the WTA. But of course she had good hands because Gemini rules over the hands.
I’ve actually noticed that a ton of highly-ranked female tennis players have a Gemini sun sign. It’s something I need to look into a little more because the numbers seem to be disproportionate. I’ll get around to it sometime . . .
The birthday boy for June 6 is Robert Englund.
Gemini rules over the hands and fingers. For that reason it’s not surprising that the most famous fingernails in the history of cinema were attached to the hands of a Gemini actor, Robert Englund.
I’m not so sure about that striped sweater, though. I can’t decide which sign rules over that . . .
