Nick Cannon
The birthday boy for October 8 is Nick Cannon.
Cannon is married to Mariah Carey, an Aries native. While I expect someone with an Aries sun sign to get into fights with everyone (Rosie O’Donnell; Star Jones; Elton John; etc.), I don’t really expect the same from a Libra native. Nick Cannon, however, has been known to lash out at one of his wife’s rivals, rapper Eminem.
The funny thing about the feud between Cannon and Eminem is that they share the same sun sign. Of course, with two Libras involved, it’s a passive/aggressive war of words that never seems to end. While Libra should ideally represent diplomacy and compromise, in practice most Libra natives would rather just let everyone else do the heavy lifting while they offer commentary from the sidelines. In my eyes, that sort of complacency is their worst habit.
I did read that Nick Cannon once offered to duke it out with Eminem in a boxing ring with the proceeds from the fight going to charity. For that reason, I’m on team Nick. At least he wanted to do something to resolve the issue. Most Libras would just walk away, muttering under their breath, plotting their passive/aggressive revenge . . .
Blackie Lawless
The birthday boy for September 4 is Blackie Lawless.
Hot on the heels of posting that Whitey Bulger has an appropriate name for a Virgo, I discover that Blackie Lawless is a Virgo, too! There goes that theory. Oh well! If it really worked, Goldie Hawn would be a Leo and Red Buttons would be an Aries . . .
Jennifer Lawrence
The birthday girl for August 15 is Jennifer Lawrence.
While I knew who Jennifer Lawrence was, I didn’t really pay attention to her until she wore this red Calvin Klein dress to the Oscars. I immediately figured that she was an Aries because (A) she was wearing red and (B) she was born to wear Calvin Klein. I wasn’t completely dumbfounded when I discovered that she was a Leo because the thing that I had associated her with before that red carpet appearance was her lustrous head of hair.
Since then I’ve seen Lawrence in a lot of other labels that have made her appear far more Leonine than in the photo above. But first impressions last forever. It’s funny, though, that Aries is the sign of first impressions and here is a Leo giving a lesson on how to make everyone remember her name. I recall another Leo actress named Jennifer Lopez doing the exact same thing in Versace a few years before.
Aries natives need to take note . . .
Viola Davis
The birthday girl for August 11 is Viola Davis.
I’ve called Leo “the wig sign” plenty of times, so it’s no surprise that the most-memorable red carpet moment of the 2012 award show season featured Viola Davis shunning her usual wigs to show off her natural hair at the Oscars. Other famous Leo wig-wearers include Whitney Houston and Vivica Fox (who incidentally fronts her own wig line.)
Of course, not every Leo woman is going to top off her look with a wig. Others may choose crowns, tiaras or similar regalia. Although Aries officially rules over the top of the head, it’s the Leos who generally like to put things on their heads. Many Aries natives follow suit, but not because it’s in their nature; it’s actually in their nature to want to look more like Leos. They try so hard!
Taylor Momsen
The birthday girl for July 26 is Taylor Momsen.
I just looked up Momsen’s chart because I was wondering if a particular planetary placement could explain her raccoon eyes. I was expecting to find her moon in Aries, but it’s in Scorpio.
Her goth girl look could be attributed to Scorpio’s influence. I just wish that I could place the planets in the houses, but I don’t have an accurate birthtime to do that. With a Scorpio or an Aries ascendant, I could really understand why she looks the way she does.
I need her to call me to let me know what time she was born. Perhaps I should have asked first and called her “raccoon eyes” later . . .
Laura Leighton
The birthday girl for July 24 is Laura Leighton.
I play a little game with myself sometimes when I’m thinking of ways to describe certain signs. I think of a phrase and then I think of the signs that best describe that phrase. For instance, if I said “scene stealer,” I would describe the phrase with Aries and Leo.
It’s no surprise to me to learn that Laura Leighton is a Leo. I remember two particular scenes in the original “Melrose Place” like they happened yesterday. One was Laura Leighton’s character Sydney’s fight with her sister Jane in the swimming pool, and the other was Kimberley’s scar reveal. Kimberly was played by Aries actress Marcia Cross.
Of course, the two most-memorable scenes from seven seasons of the hit show involve the zodiac’s “scene stealers.” Even Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) couldn’t compete with that.
Khloé Kardashian
The birthday girl for June 27 is Khloé Kardashian.
Of the three Kardashian sisters, I find Khloé to be the most-tolerable. That probably has more to do with my chart than with hers. I’m a Capricorn with a Cancer moon and a Libra rising. Kourtney is an Aries, and I’ve made no attempt on this blog to gloss over how unlike an Aries I am. Kim is a Libra, and although I get along well with most Libra natives, I find their passive/aggressive nature to be at odds with my businesslike Capricorn approach; if I don’t like something I’m more likely to tell you that I don’t like than to punish you in an obstructionist manner.
I like Khloé’s frankness. I also like her relationship with her brother, Rob. Rob is a Pisces, so it makes sense that he gets along with his sister who shares a water sign. I’d probably get along with Rob, too, though. Still, I can’t bring myself to watch their television shows for more than a few minutes. Maybe I just resent the fact that there’s not a Capricorn to be found on any of their shows.
Prince William
The birthday boy for June 21 is Prince William.
William has both his sun and moon in the early degrees of Cancer. He also has a few planets scattered througout the sign of Libra. His wife, Kate Middleton, has a Capricorn sun, a Cancer moon and a Libra rising — just like me. Together, they’re under the influence of a triple threat of cardinality while lacking entirely in any influence from the sign of Aries — just like me.
I may be dreaming, but I believe that we would all get along very well. I don’t know if they actually share my aversion to anything Aries, but from looking at their charts I can imagine that they do!
Rivers Cuomo
The birthday boy for June 13 is Rivers Cuomo.
In my previous post I mentioned that I admire many of popular music’s Gemini weirdos. I find something very authentic about the way that they put themselves together. I suppose that’s why I don’t get a “contrived” vibe from Rivers Cuomo. There seems to be some genuine enthusiasm in the way he presents himself to his audience. He seems to like what he wears and he seems to like the image that he projects.
To me, a musical artist like Lady Gaga seems to be entirely contrived. I believe in her conviction to her artform, but like most Aries natives, she always gives me the impression that she’s trying too hard to be avant garde. And then there’s people like Rivers Cuomo who simply appear as if they live in their own little world . . .
Mel B
The birthday girl for May 29 is Mel B.
My favorite Spice Girls were the two Mels. Mel C is a Capricorn, like me. Mel B is a Gemini. I usually get along with Geminis because I applaud their ability to embrace their awfulness. On the other hand, I don’t always gel with individuals born under the other three signs represented by the remaining Spice Girls: Aries, Leo and Aquarius.
Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham bugged the hell out of me as a Spice Girl, but I do believe that she’s a tremendously talented fashion designer. She actually bugs me a lot less than most Aries natives do. Ginger Spice drove me crazy with her big ego, as almost all Leo natives do. I found her to be very entertaining, but when she left the group to go solo I could barely believe it because I thought that she was tied with Posh as the worst singer of the bunch. Baby Spice, the Aquarius, also rubbed me the wrong way because I’m sort of grossed-out by women who infantalize themselves. But taking a time-honored cliche and turning it into a non-threatening, mass-market caricature is something an Aquarius would do. Everything about the character of Baby Spice rang false with me. I often discuss how Jennifer Aniston’s public persona seems so contrived. Contriving a public persona is the Aquarius way, though. I shoudn’t be surprised that people liked Baby Spice when saw right through her schtick. I hated her guts.
Mel B, on the other hand, was a good singer, a good dancer and a good entertainer. I adored her on “Dancing with the Stars,” but once again she was paired with a Capricorn: professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. There’s really not a lot in common between these two signs, but in some ways they kind of bring out the worst in each other in a very entertaining way. Geminis aren’t afraid to reveal their bad side and Capricorns are thrilled to play along with someone who doesn’t always stand on decorum. Together, they’re sort of rotten, but in the most delightful way.
I don’t know if Mel B and Mel C actually got along as Spice Girls, but I can imagine that they would have enjoyed each other’s company in small, infrequent doses. I can also imagine them knowing that they had all the talent in the group but never actually saying it to the others. They would probably just smile slyly at each other and it would be understood. That’s sort of how these two signs work together. Still, they don’t really work together for very long. That’s just the way it goes.
